Symmetry mirror.

Paint one leg. The other leg paints itself.

// What it does

Pairs faces across an axis of symmetry. Once paired, every paint action — Region, Brush, Wand, Detail, Mark area, even bulk paints — applies to both the face and its mirror image.

Modes: X (left ↔ right), Y (top ↔ bottom), Z (front ↔ back), or off.

// When to use it
  • Symmetric models — humanoids, vehicles, busts. Half the work.
  • Repeating patterns where one half mirrors the other.
  • Even slightly asymmetric models — pairs what is symmetric, leaves the rest manual.
// How to use it
  1. Setup tab → Symmetry → click an axis (X for left/right is most common).
  2. Status reads N faces paired — confirms the model actually has symmetry to use.
  3. Paint normally. Region click on the left, the right mirrors. Brush drag, the other side draws live.
  4. Switch off by clicking the same axis again.
// Tips
  • Model not actually symmetric? Paired count is low or zero. Layerpaint can't fix asymmetric meshes — turn it off.
  • Wrong axis? If symmetric across Y but you picked X, nothing pairs. Try the other axes.
  • Forgetting symmetry is on is a common gotcha. Watch the indicator if your strokes seem to do too much.

Try symmetry mirror on the demo robot.
