For Bambu AMS · Prusa MMU · ACE Pro · CFS

Stop painting your model triangle by triangle.

Your slicer makes you brush color one face at a time. Layerpaint reads the model's edges and fills a whole panel in one click — then exports a 3MF your slicer prints exactly as you see it. Even AI-generated models, with their million messy triangles, fill just as easily.

How it works
Three steps from grey STL to a color-ready print.
Iron Man bust as a plain grey STL on the build plate
01

Drop in your model

Drag an STL, OBJ or 3MF onto the page. It loads right there in your browser, so the file never gets uploaded anywhere.

02

Paint by region

Layerpaint splits the model along its creases, so one click fills a whole panel. There's a brush, a wand and mirror painting for the fiddly bits.

Export a 3MF

One click saves a Standard 3MF. Open it in Bambu Studio, Orca or Prusa and your colors land on the right filament slots.

✦ The Magic tool

Click once. It floods to the edges.

Most painters make you color one triangle at a time. Magic floods out from a single click and stops by itself at the model's natural creases, so a whole panel, horn or plate fills in one move.

  • Click a surface — it fills up to the creases
  • Scroll to size it, one degree at a time
  • Click again to drop your color

What you get for $19.97
Three things that make color actually easy.
✦ Crease-aware regions

Paint a whole panel in one click.

In most tools you color one tiny face at a time. Layerpaint reads the model's hard edges and turns each surface into a region, so filling a dragon's wing is one click instead of an afternoon of them.

  • Auto-partition by crease angle
  • Magic wand, brush, mirror & detailer tools
  • Snap-to-crease for clean, exact seams

✦ Real filaments, real preview

Design in the filaments you actually own.

The color picker is stocked with real spools (Bambu, Polymaker, Prusament, Overture), so what's on screen is what comes off the printer. It also tallies the filament swaps on each layer, so a print that's going to crawl is obvious before you slice it.

✦ One clean export

Export once. It opens already colored.

Layerpaint saves a Standard 3MF using the official Materials Extension, so Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer pick up your colors on their own. You won't be redoing the paint job in the slicer or wrestling with a broken import.

  • Colors map straight to filament slots
  • No re-painting, plugins or uploads

Everything in Layerpaint.

Magic Fill

Tap a part — it floods to the natural seams. Scroll to size it, catch soft edges, close gaps.

Brush & Fine detail

Paint by hand; fine mode follows the plane you click. Respects the borders you've drawn.

Isolate & Cut

Slice the model with a dragged line, or isolate a part, to reach a surface hidden behind another.

Borders

Draw where colors should split. Encircling strokes auto-close their gaps; a broad eraser clears them.

Grow & clean-up

Spread a color, find gaps, clean stray islands, and flag patches too thin to print.

Theme palettes

Warhammer, superheroes, fantasy, sci-fi — plus 600+ real filament colors and skin tones.

Color swap

Change one color to another across the whole model in a single click.

Symmetry

Mirror every stroke across an axis — perfect for figures and armour.

Print check

Scrub the print layer by layer, with a per-layer filament-swap counter.

One clean export

A Standard 3MF that opens already-colored in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer & PrusaSlicer.

// 07 — Questions

Common questions.

Does this work with Bambu Studio and the Bambu AMS?
Yes. Export a Standard 3MF and drop it in. Bambu Studio's "Standard 3MF Color Parsing" dialog picks up the colors automatically — they map straight to AMS filament slots. The same file works on the AMS Lite, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT, X1 Carbon, P1S, A1, and A1 mini, and in OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer too.
Does it support Prusa MMU3 and Anycubic ACE Pro / Creality CFS?
Yes. PrusaSlicer (MK4, MK4S, MK3S+, XL) reads the 3MF Materials Extension natively for MMU3 and MMU2S. Anycubic Slicer and Creality Print are OrcaSlicer-based and accept the same painted 3MF for ACE Pro and CFS multi-color printing.
How is this different from Bambu Studio's built-in paint tool?
Bambu Studio's paint tool is fine for quick fills, but it's locked to Bambu's slicer and lacks crease-aware regions, depth control, and a per-layer swap counter. Layerpaint is a focused STL painter — auto-partition by crease angle, magic wand that stops at edges, mirror painting, layer scrub, and a swap counter that helps you minimize purge waste before you slice.
Can I paint miniatures, terrain, and tabletop models?
Yes. The brush is sub-millimetre precise and the filament library includes Games Workshop paint references, so you can match Citadel/Vallejo schemes to filament colors. Great for D&D minis, terrain, busts, dioramas, and cosplay props.
What is a "Standard 3MF" and why does it matter?
3MF is the modern replacement for STL. The Materials Extension (<m:colorgroup>) lets a 3MF carry per-triangle colors that any compliant slicer can read without proprietary metadata. Layerpaint exports exactly this — so your colored model is portable across Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, and Anycubic/Creality forks.
Is my model uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your STL/OBJ/3MF never touches a server. Check the Network tab if you like.
How big a model can I paint?
Meshes up to several hundred thousand triangles work smoothly on a modern laptop. Larger models still work, just slower.
Can I save my work and come back?
Yes. Save to a .layerpaint project file (mesh + paint state, gzipped). Reload it any time, from any machine.
Do I need an account to try it?
No. The painter is free to use without signing up. To unlock export you just enter your email at checkout — no password to remember.
What if I want to use it on another machine?
Your license is tied to your purchase email, not the machine. On a new computer or browser, use the in-app contact bubble (bottom-right of the painter) or email ashley@layerpaint.app and we'll send your activation link — one click and that browser is unlocked too. No password to remember.
Refunds?
14-day money-back guarantee. The full painter is free to try before you buy — and if you buy and it's still not for you, email us within 14 days and we'll refund you in full. No forms, no questions.
Who's behind it?
Built by a 3D printing hobbyist who got tired of painting STLs by hand in slicer software. Drop a note in the contact form below or email ashley@layerpaint.app.
